UK's First Property Search Engine Launches
LONDON, 4th August 2005
OnOneMap, the UK’s first property search engine, was launched today making searching for a home to buy easier than ever before. The search engine displays on a map all the properties for sale that it can find in the user’s selected location, and provides a summary of property details.
By visiting www.ononemap.com users can zoom in on the map or type in a postcode or place name and the map will display the exact location of each property that meets the user’s search criteria. This is the first service of its kind in the UK.
All the properties for sale are represented by a red house icon that brings up basic information when clicked such as number of bedrooms, price and a thumbnail picture. Users can then click on a link that takes them to the Web site on which more detailed property information can be found.
The service is completely free to use and totally independent, letting potential buyers get an instant idea of what is currently available in their desired location.
Andrew Betts, who developed the service, said, “I was searching the web for a property in a specific area. It just struck me how difficult it was to get an accurate picture of exactly where the houses were without actually looking each one up on a map. It was frustrating not being able to see all the properties in one location on one map.”
